Chicken and Sweet Corn Soup

This iron-rich chicken and sweet corn soup makes a great first food for babies and will be popular with the rest of the family too!

Chicken and Sweet Corn Soup for babies

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 30 minutes

Serves 2 (make 2 1/2 cups)
Suitable for freezing

Suitable from 6 months (or whenever your baby starts solids)


Ingredients

2 chicken drumsticks, skin on

1 stick celery, diced

1 carrot, peeled and diced

1 corn cob, kernels removed and husk discarded

1 cup water


Method

1. Place all ingredients in a large saucepan and simmer over medium heat for 30 minutes or until chicken is cooked through and coming away from bone

2. Remove drumsticks and place on a chopping board. Cut away flesh, discarding the bones and any skin (be careful to take out any small bones)

3. Return chicken to saucepan and blend with a stick blender or transfer to food processor and blend as needed (can be served unblended for older children)
