Is Pear & Raspberry Puree good for babies?
Pears and raspberries are both highly nutritious foods that are suitable for babies as soon as they start solids.
Both are high in fiber and contain antioxidants to help support your baby’s immune system.
Pears also contain a type of carbohydrate called sorbitol, which acts as a natural laxative by drawing water into the bowel and softening stools. This can be helpful for babies who are suffering constipation after starting solids.
Raspberries are a great way to introduce babies to sour flavours which helps to broaden their palates and encourages them to accept a wide variety of foods.
What sort of pears should I use?
Any pears will work well for this recipe. I usually use Packham or Buerre Bosc pears, but any soft pear should work.
Very ripe pears may be soft enough to skip the cooking - just make sure they can be mashed easily.
Can I freeze pear & raspberry puree
Yes, pear and raspberry puree freezes well.
I definitely recommend freezing extra portions as this will save you lots of time later on!
I love to use silicon freezer molds to freeze individual portions of baby food.
